A: Tom, this is Mary Bobbins. She’s just come over from sales.

B: It’s nice to meet you! Guess we’ll be working together.

A: Yes, she’ll be working closely with you on the marketing end of things.

B: Good. Well, welcome aboard, Ms, Robbins.

场景2：关于口音(Asking about an accent)

A: You have an unusual accent, Mr. Robbins. Where are you from originally? If you don’t mind me asking.

B: Not at all. I was born in Madrid, but I came to the States when I was a teenager.

A; I guess that must be what I’m hearing, I really couldn’t place it. Do you go back to Madrid often?

B: No, I haven’t been back for more than ten years.

场景3：谈论新老板(Discussing a new manager)

A: Have you met the new manager in customer service?

B: No, I haven’t gotten over there in a few weeks. How is he?

A: She. She seems to be doing a pretty good job. Of course, anything would be better than that last guy!

A: Hi, how are you?

B: I’m fine, thanks. Just trying to get adjusted. It’s hard to keep track of everything around here.

A: That’s for sure. You’re new, too, huh?

B: Yeah. I just got here a couple of days ago. How about you?

*sameness：千篇一律，单调。例句：She grew tired of the sameness of the food.饭菜单调，她都吃腻了。

Mr. Shute: As to the terms of payment, I'd like to suggest you accept D/A.

Mr. Xu: I'msorry, we only accept L/C payment.

Mr. Shute: But as you know, ours is a large order. To pay by L/C, we have to paymuch more money for the bank's charge as well as deposit. That willtie up our money and therefore increases the cost of our imports.

Mr. Xu: Mr. Shute, it is because of a large order that we think it more necessaryto insist on L/C payment. To get around your difficulties, I suggest youcut your order in half.

Mr. Shute: That's a good idea. I'll consider the possibility. But for our good relations,I still hope you'll make an exception to meet our requirement.

舒特先生:关于支付，我希望你们采用承兑交单的方式。
