Tourist: Woo, look, what big guys they've got here.
Guide: This is the Heavenly King's Hall. Here you can see four guardians, two on each side. They work together to keep the world in peace, prosperity and harmony.
Tourist: Liu, I have a question for you. Why do two of them look kind and the other two are mean and ferocious?
Guide: Chinese people believe that to win peace you have to use both soft and tough tactics. Or, you may call it the balance of the “Yin” and “Yang” in Chinese conception. Here in the shrine, facing the main entrance, sits Maitreya Buddha, or more popularly known as the Laughing Buddha. He is the symbol of happiness in China, as Chinese people say “a carefree mind, a fatty kind”。
Tourist: Oh, we do have a couple of Laughing Buddhas in our group!
Guide: Here we can see the first treasure in this temple, the statue of Veda. It is the oldest one here, more than 800 years old.And monks say the whole statue was carved out of one piece of huge camphor tree trunk. It is a nice piece, isn't it?
Tourist: Absolutely.
Guide: Now let's go on to the Grand Hall. You can take photos here, with the Grand Hall as the background.
Tourist: Look at the big trees. They must have been here for hundreds of years.
Guide: Yes. They are camphor trees. They live a long time. Now we've come to the statue of the Buddha.
Tourist: Oh, the Buddha here is so impressive!
Guide: This is the biggest sitting wooden Buddha in China, another treasure in this temple.
Tourist: Was it made out of one piece of wood?
Guide: Of course not. It was made up of 24 pieces of camphor wood. In early 1949, the front part of this hall collapsed,and it destroyed three smaller Buddhas here. It was restored in the year 1956 under the instruction of Zhou Enlai. This statue is 19.6 meters high, to match the height of the hall.
Tourist: How high is the building?
Guide: 33.6m or 110 feet. And the statue was coated with 3 kilos of pure gold. His gesture shows that he is giving lectures to his disciples.
Tourist: Why is his hair blue?
Guide: Blue is the color of the sky, so he is considered as high as the sky.
Tourist: I see.
游客：哇，瞧，这些人又高又大。
导游：这里就是天王殿，你会见到有四个门神，每侧两个，他们是用来维护世界的和平融洽和繁荣的。
游客：刘先生，我想问你一个问题，这四个门神中为什么有两个面带和善，而另外两个却显得很凶恶呢？
导游：中国人认为只有用软强兼施的战术才可以赢得和平，或者用中国人通常所讲的阴阳协调来解释，在对着正门的神龛上，坐着的就是弥勒佛，即众所周知的笑佛，他是中国吉祥的象征，就像人们常说的“心宽体胖”。
游客：哦，在我们这个小组里还真有几个“笑佛”呢！
导游：这个就是这座庙里首屈一指的珍品--韦驮雕像，它己经有800多年的历史，是这里古老的雕塑。据和尚们说，这一整座雕像是由一棵樟脑树干雕刻而成的，看上去很不错，对吧？
游客：一点不错。
导游：来，让我们继续往前走去看看大雄宝殿，在这里你可以大殿作为背景来拍照。
游客：看看这些大树，肯定都有几百年了。
导游：没错，这些都是樟脑树，生命力非常顽强，现在我们已经到佛像面前了。
游客：啊，真让人为之惊叹！
导游：这是中国一尊木制坐佛，也是这座寺庙中的另一个瑰宝。
游客：它也是用一棵树干做成的吗？
导游：当然不是，而是用二十四棵樟木树干雕成的。在1949年初，这座大殿的前面部分坍塌，造成三尊小佛被破坏，直到1956年才在周恩来的指示下得以修复。这座佛像高19.6米，与大殿的高度相匹配。
游客：那么这座大殿有多高？
导游：33.6米（110英尺）。这座雕像镀有3公斤重的纯金，他的手势表明正在给弟子讲学。
