Jessica: So Kate what is, what's this future trip? What are you gonna do next year?

Kate: Next year, so when I leave Japan, I'm going back to Australia to work for another 8weeks and then I'm off to New Zealand to see the rest of New Zealand and then Fiji and then, and then it'd be nice there cause I get to spend some time lying on the beach and then go tothe Cook Islands. After the Cook Islands I'm going to go and see my best friend. She lives inKuala Lumpur, so I'm going to go and do the East Coast of Malaysia and then I'm gonna go toThailand and the Cambodia and then Vietnam and Lao and then India, and that's as far as I got.

Jessica: OK, so after that point you don't know where you're gonna go?

Kate: No, I don't know where I'm gonna go. Probably, probably I'm gonna head towardsCanada because one of my best friend's immigrated there so I'd like to see him.

Jessica: Wow, so how long do you think you're going to be traveling for then?

Kate: Three years.

Jessica: For three years. Wow, so now, do you have, like a plan after that or?

Kate: Yeah, after I finish my travels I'm going to go back home and I've just finished myMaster's before I came up, so I'm going to go back and do my PhD. in Psychology and then I'mgoing to train to be a psychologist.

Jessica: Wonderful. Great. Well thanks Kate.

Todd:Ebony, we were looking at the internet and we saw that the U.S. is going to try to putpeople on the moon, again, in a few years. What do you think about that?

Ebony:OK, about people on the moon, I think it's really cool! I say that as a natural reaction, but I know they've tried it before. I think it would be maybe a good idea economically, but thenagain not.

Todd:Sure.

当然。

Ebony:I mean, because first of all, how are we financially in the US? What are they doing? Ithink they are trying to pick up spirits or distract right now with all the other underlyingissues!

Todd:Yeah!

对的

Ebony:Honestly, when I heard that, I was like, is this some kind of propoganda, some kind ofbillboard distraction. In my opinion, I mean, it's an awesome idea though if you really thinkbehind it, but I don't know if that's what we should be looking at right now.

Todd:Sure, so do you think it is a waste of money or do you think it helps science?

Ebony:I think eventually it's a great thing, and it does help, and I think it's a wonderful thingto be paying attention to, but I don't know whether it's the right moment for it. But either way, they're doing it, so I think it would be really neat, I mean I've always wanted to say to my, youknow, one day my kids, "Ok, let's go to vacation on the moon...I feel like going out to the suitehotel you know.Let's go look at the stars" you know a few meteors passing by, wouldn't thatbe neat..to say that and really be able to do that someday.

Todd:Gosh, it must be really, really beautiful on the moon. Well, actually, you are very young. Ithink 20! 20 years old?

Ebony:Yes.

是的。

Todd:So, do you think that is going to be possible, that...

Ebony:Yeah! Yeah!

Todd:Really?

Ebony:Since I was 10. Since I was 10 years old my father would always say to me, you know,he's about 62 right now, and so, he said, I've seen everybody go from cars to everything andall the advances in technology is so fast, he said, 'I can't imagine when your are my age what'sit's going to be like for you at the rate technology is advancing.

Todd:Yeah!

Ebony:So I thought, "Wow, that's really cool!" I'll be able to do that and I always did. I alwaysthought that and so, in a way too I'm saying, "What took you so long guys?"

Todd:Wow, so that's amazing. You could actually be going for vacation to the moon in fortyyears.

Ebony:Wouldn't that not be cool!

Todd:Yeah!

是的!

Ebony:Just sit there.

Todd:Or Mars.

Ebony:Mars.

火星。

Todd:Yeah! Lots of rocks.

Ebony:The red planet. I don't know about mars. I think the moon sounds kind of cooler notas far.

Todd:Yeah!

对!

Ebony:It depends on what they do with travel.

Todd:Yeah. You definitely would need around-trip ticket.

Ebony:OK, thanks a lot Ebony

Todd: So actually we talked a little bit about TVs in the past, what about TVs of the future?Nowadays you can watch television on this very tiny screens, like the ipod video. What do youthink about that?

Mark: Right. I've just seen one of them for the first time. I think they're fantastic. They'rereally great. Yeah, especially when traveling. But the future of TV, I was listening to aninterviewer a few nights ago with Bill Gates and he's going to try and move from computers toTV — interactive TV — and this sounds good. Yeah, TV of the future. Sounds great.

Todd: So what was he saying about interactive TV?

Mark: He was talking about if it was a quiz show you could actually join in with the quiz andanswer the questions, or if you were watching the Olympics then you could actually choosewhich events you wanted to watch, so sometimes if they are showing the olympics on TV they'llshow running and then maybe they'll show swimming and maybe they'll show archery. If youdidn't want to watch swimming you could choose your schedule and what to watch.

Todd: Wow, that would be cool.

Mark: Yeah, and also for sports you could maybe choose your own sports team, which wouldbe good.

Todd: Yeah, I actually saw another thing on TV in the future, and they we're saying because ofwhat is happening now about buying television shows over the internet that soon there will beTV with no commercials. You just buy the program for one dollar and then you watch it withoutcommercials.

Mark: Yeah, that would be fun, yeah. That would be good. Hopefully, I want them to see themactually, I know they do a little bit, but I'd like it so you can hook up your PC to your TV aswell. I know you can a little bit, so download things on your PC and then watch on the TV.

Todd: So when we're old and grey we'll be able to tell our children "In our day, we actually hadto get up and turn the knob."

Mark: Right, but it's not so long ago. Only what — 10 years, 15 years ago?

Todd: I know. It's crazy.

Mark: Things are moving fast.
